Those who were not able to take the placement test in December and want to enter Saturday School need to register their name on our Saturday School waiting list. Those on the waiting list will be called in individually to take a placement test when there is an opening in a class at their estimated level. Please note that waiting listed applicants will be contacted in the order that they were registered on the waiting list. However, those who have already taken the December placement test and are waiting for an opening in the program, or others who want to join after participating in our “Just For Kids” program will be given priority over the people who are newly registering their name on our waiting list.

All the applicants except for the Beginner level applicants (Level 1) will be required to take the placement test.

Computer test and Interview
（A comprehensive test that includes reading, writing, listening and speaking skills ）
※Parents will not be allowed to accompany the child during the test, and will be asked to wait in another room.

     Saturday School 2010-2011 will be holding an Explanatory Meeting for those who are interested in entering the program. We will be giving an overview of our program, and explaining our curriculum at the meeting. We hope we will be able to answer any questions you may have before enrolling your children in our program.

Explanatory Meeting for New Saturday School Staff (from Fall 2010) and Staff for JFK 2010 May 25th (Tue) 16:00 in Kwansei Gakuin Senri International Campus “Cafeteria”

Attendance to ONE of the Explanatory Meetings will be MANDATORY for application. No reservations will be necessary.

Details on the application process will be announced at the meetings, but please keep in mind that you will be asked to come in on either June 19th (Sat) or June 26th (Sat) as a trial day of the program, if hired.

If you are interested in a student staff position, please download and fill out the Saturday School Student Staff Registration Form. (Please note that this form is different from the Student Staff Application Form which can only be obtained from attending one of the explanatory meetings.) Fax or post the registration form to the Special Programs Office (emailed forms will not be accepted). You will be informed about the date of the next explanatory meeting.

Saturday School has two student staff recruitment periods each year.

Recruitment Period 1:

Explanatory Meeting: Mid-January
Application Deadline: End of January
Start of Employment: April (Spring Term)

Recruitment Period 2:

Explanatory Meeting: Mid-June
Application Deadline: End of June
Start of Employment: September (Fall Term)

Applicants should keep in mind the following requirements if interested in applying for a student staff position:

• Must have a reasonable level of spoken English.
• Must be comfortable working with children.
• Must be available on Saturdays (30 a year).
• Must have appropriate Visa documentation if a foreign national.
• Must be 15 years of age as of 1 April.

Please note:

• Shortlisted applicants will have separate English and Japanese interviews.
• Hired student staff must attend a series of orientations prior to the start of their employment.

Applicants should have the following:

• A university degree. (Copies of relevant certificates will need to be provided if interviewed.)
• A current CV with copies of references.
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching in Japan.
• A minimum of a year’s experience teaching elementary-aged Japanese children.
• A future commitment to staying in Japan (preferable).
• Being available on 31 Saturdays is a must.

Please note:

• EFL teachers should be native speakers of English.
• Only prospective applicants will be contacted for an interview.
• Copies of CVs, certificates and/or references will not be returned. (References may be checked prior to hiring.)
• All applicants will be considered for an EFL position unless otherwise stated on their application.
• Prospective teachers are given a paid orientation and may fill in as relief teachers when necessary until such time as a position becomes available.

The explanatory meeting for people interested in the Saturday School program is over. However, attendance to the meeting is not compulsory for applying for the program, and the Saturday School Office will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

  Placement Test Date: December 12th (Sat.) 9:00~15:00
(Testing time will be approximately 1 hour per person. Finishing time for the day is subject to change depending on the number of applicants.)
Place: Kwansei Gakuin, Senri International Camupus 

About the test: The Placement test is conducted to measure your child’s English level and place each applicant in a Saturday School class that is of appropriate  level for them. Student who wish to enter from the Winter Term (January) of the 2009-2010 school year may do so if  there is an opening in the class that they would join from April. Classes for the 2010-2011 Spring Term will be put together based on the number of students and their English levels. If the number of applicants for the class exceeds the number of openings, a decision as to who will join the class will be made by drawing lots. Please note that test scores will not affect results. (*Those who wish to join the beginner level class do not need to take the placement test.)

Information regarding the application process for the placement test will be provided at the explanatory meeting. All information will also be uploaded on the Saturday School website and passed out at the Placement Test venue should there be people who wish to receive print outs of the material.
